Welcome!

Our Mission

The Bhagat Puran Singh Health Initiative aims to advocate for and provide immigrant communities with greater access to healthcare services through community-based wellness. We do this through clinics at Gurdwaras around the Bay Area, community-based participatory action projects with our Sangat, and advocating for changes in policy. Our hope through all we do is to not only address the intersectionality between healthcare delivery, education but to also involve our Sangat so they can take greater control of their healthcare needs.

BPSHI was founded in honor of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji (founder of Pingalwara in Punjab, India). He dedicated his life to the Sikh principle of seva. Seva is defined as selfless service for others that encompasses initiative, compassion, and empathy. Berkeley BPSHI uses seva as our guiding principle in all we do. We firmly believe that every interaction we have with our Sangat is an opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives.
